Drunken Driver Killed in Car Crash

19-year-old Ozan Alparslan was killed instantly in a shocking car accident on Nato Yolu last night at 11 p.m.

Drunk, and driving over 20 kph over the speed limit, Alparslan lost control of his car on the wet road and found himself driving on the wrong side of the median. The car smashed into an IETT bus, crushing the whole front of the car and the bus. Alparslan, who was not wearing his seat belt, was thrown into the car's windshield and died instantly. The bus driver only had a few minor injuries.

Alparslan was coming back from a party when the crash happened. He had been inducted into the military, and the party was a good bye for him as he was leaving the next day. Fortunately, Alparslan was riding alone and no other passenger was present in his totally wrecked Renault Broadway.

The bus driver, Cem Bayir, was taken to Medicana Hospital immediately and was treated for a broken arm. When released from the hospital, Bayir said, "I saw him coming and tried to avoid the accident by switching to the left lane. Unfortunately, the Renault driver also changed lanes and drove straight into me."
